2nd Modern Finance Conference

September 7-9, 2025
Warsaw, Poland

The 2nd Modern Finance Conference (MFC 2025) was hosted by the University of Warsaw (UW), Poland, and co-organized by the Poznan University of Economics and Business and the Faculty of Economics Sciences at the UW. The conference brought together 163 participants from 42 countries, presenting 139 papers submitted by scholars worldwide.

We were honored to host keynote speaker professor Iftekhar Hasan from Fordham University, who shared insights in biodiversity risk in finance. We are also grateful to our prominent journal editors, Peter G. Szilagyi and Sabr Boubbaker, who who provided advice on publishing and academic research.

We thank all attendees and speakers for their contributions to making this conference a success.

Book of Abstracts

Best Paper Award

The MFC 2025 Best Paper Award was presented to Yi Zhou from San Francisco State University for the paper titled “AI Infrastructure, Firm Value, and Expected Stock Returns.”

The Runner-Up Award went to Conrad Ciccotello and Shahram Amini from the University of Denver for the paper “Wrinkles of Experience: CEO Age and Abnormal Investment.”

The Best Pitch Awards were presented to Yerzhan Tokbolat from Queen's University Belfast for the paper “Networks, Attributes and Director Elections” and to Aleksander Mercik from Wroclaw University of Economics for the paper “When Markets Never Sleep: Intraday Liquidity Patterns and Volatility Effects in Cryptocurrency Trading.”

We extend our congratulations to all the winners for their outstanding contributions!

Award winner
